Filter units
Cloverleaf range
This drawing illustrates the general design concept of the Cloverleaf “CL” range. As can be seen key beneficial features are numerous, starting from the principles of up and down flow through the tanks thereby keeping the water in contact with the mediums for as long as possible. Apart from the advantageous separation and settlement of solids in the vortex bay, the generation of an “upflow” and the incorporation of settlement areas (with drain down valves) ensures that the filtration mediums stay cleaner for longer – thus promoting larger colonies of beneficial bacteria, and by default thereby establishing a healthier pond environment. The clever design layout of the vertical transfer ports also provides the highly useful bonus of being able to incorporate air stones (where desired) without the need for the pond to appear similar to a witch’s cauldron. |

CL1
Size 660 x 660 x 560mm high. Suitable for Koi ponds up to 1,250 gallons (5,625 litres), or Goldfish ponds up to 2,500 gallons (11,250 litres). The 4 Bay CL1 unit comprises of the first bay fitted with mechanical brushes, Bay 2 acting as a biological chamber with its “Flocore” medium, Bay 3 with Japanese Matting as a high performance biological medium, and Bay 4 serving as the final biological/mechanical stage - incorporating foam and the highly proclaimed aqua rock/alfagrog. This system is also available as the “CL1V” with a vortex chamber and other bay mediums all as specified for the CL2 & CL3 models. Note:- Pipe inlet size 75mm (3") - Outlet 50mm (2").

CL2
Size 990 x 990 x 760mm high. Suitable for Koi ponds up to 2,500 gallons (11,250 litres), or Goldfish ponds up to 5,000 gallons (22,500 litres). This 4 Bay unit comprises of a first stage vortex bay, with Bay 2 being fitted with mechanical brushes, Bay 3 acting as a main biological bay with its “Flocore” medium (or alternative Japanese Matting), and Bay 4 serving as the secondary and final biological/mechanical stage - incorporating foam and the highly proclaimed aqua rock/alfagrog. Note:- Pipe inlet size 110mm (4") - Outlet 82mm (3").

CL3
Size 1220 x 1220 x 860mm. Suitable for Koi ponds up to 3,750 gallons (16,875 litres), or Goldfish ponds up to 7,500 gallons (33,750 litres). General description as for “CL2” filter. Note:- Pipe inlet size 110mm (4") - Outlet 110mm (4").
Note: CL1, CL2, & CL3 are supplied complete with heavy duty lid, together with waste valves and pipes

CL4
Size 1600 x 1600 x 1200mm high. Suitable for Koi ponds up to 5,000 gallons (22,500 litres), or Goldfish ponds up to 10,000 gallons (45,000 litres). As standard this system is supplied without a lid, and without any filtration mediums – thus giving the pondkeeper full flexibility in choice. A "CL4 Optional Media Kit" is available at extra cost as shown on the diagram with 28 Brushes, Jap-Mat, Foam & Aquarock. General description as for “CL2” & “CL3” filters. Note:- Pipe inlet size 160mm (6") - Outlet 100mm (4").

CL4 requirements
The site installation of the CL4 model is unique to the range, in that pressures on the casing welds brought about by the weight of water (approx 1 ton per bay without media) requires that the unit needs to be placed on a firm level concrete base, and partially encased in concrete to provide lasting stability and a long life. This applies regardless of whether the unit is pump or gravity fed, and the attached diagram illustrates the basics of what needs to be achieved. Should any further technical clarity be required do not hesitate to contact the Cloverleaf office. |
